The recipients of the 2025 Universal Tennis Foundation Hurd Awards have been announced. Mary Stoiana and Colton Smith are this year’s Hurd Award champions, and Amelia Honer and Eliot Spizzirri have been named finalists.
Made possible by Paula Hurd and the Universal Tennis Foundation, the Hurd Awards are $100,000 annual grants that support one young male and female American tennis player transitioning from college to international competition.
Since 2024, the Universal Tennis Foundation has partnered with Gordon Uehling and the Youth Performance Institute (YPI) he created withsports psychologist Dr. Jim Loehr to expand the awards. Thanks to YPI’s generosity, the Hurd Awards also includes $40,000 grants for two finalists (one male and one female). All players are invited to a special YPI summit with Dr. Loehr this summer.
Past Hurd Award recipients include Ethan Quinn and Fiona Crawley (2024), Peyton Stearns and Andrew Fenty (2023), Danielle Collins and Mackenzie McDonald (2017), Christopher Eubanks and Francesca di Lorenzo (2018), J.C. Aragone and Jamie Loeb (2019), and JJ Wolf and Sophie Whittle (2020).
