Novak Djokovic enjoys Audemars Piguet cocktail party and even plays some video game tennis against fans

Earlier this month, Novak Djokovic made his way to Brazil for the first time and took part in several activities, including an exhibition match against Gustavo Kuerten and a tennis court inaugurate with him. So when Djokovic hit a cocktail party for his watch sponsor Audemars Piguet as their official Ambassador, there were plenty of good times!

Rio de Janeiro — The Swiss Watch Manufacture from Le Brassus, Audemars Piguet, co-hosted a memorable cocktail with special guest of honor, Novak Djokovic, at the Baretto-Londra at the Fasano Hotel. The cocktail was co-hosted with the retailer, SARA, which exclusively represents the Swiss brand in the city of Rio de Janeiro.
Guests of the cocktail mingled and enjoyed of the elegantly and playfully decorated Londra Bar at the Fasano while anxiously waiting for the arrival of the guest of honor. Guests were welcomed and encouraged to participate in a raffle for a chance to play an interactive tennis match with none other than the world’s number one tennis player. A special half size tennis court was set up for interactive tennis matches where guests practiced on played against each other until the big moment.
Upon Djokovic’s arrival, a welcome speech was given by Mr. David Zilberman, owner of Sara Joias, and Mr. Frederick Martel, Vice President of Sales & Marketing for Audemars Piguet (North America), Inc. followed by a viewing of Novak Djokovic’s Defining Moment Video. As this marked Djokovic’s first visit to Rio, he had several nice things to say about the city and its people and the opportunities he was given during his stay. A special thank you was given to soccer player Dejan Petkovic, Djokovic’s official host and friend of Audemars Piguet.
The notoriously accessible and friendly Nole happily mingled, signed autographs and took pictures with the guests of the cocktail but truly the biggest highlight of the night was when 4 of those guests were randomly selected to play a mini tournanent for the chance to play against Djokovic himself. The winner not only got to play an interactive match, but also received a trophy and special tennis gear autographed by the tennis player.


The cocktail was the perfect close to the 3 day Djoko no Rio event that the “cidade maravilhosa” (marvelous city) hosted the tennis player. Audemars Piguet and SARA had the pleasure of co-sponsoring this event in addition to the cocktail.
Marking Djokovic’s first visit to Rio, the 3 days encompassed a series of very special events. The first on November 16th being the inauguration of a community tennis court located in the the infamous Rocinha favela where Djokovic was dubbed godfather of the court for the next year. Then the much awaited friendly tennis match between Djokovic and Brazil’s number one tennis player, Gustavo “Guga” Kuerten on November 17th and ended with a star filled friendly soccer match on November 18th.
